When to visit
Spring (April, May, June)
Vienna is a city of great history and every corner carries the memories of a great empire. In the 3 days we visited every day a palace: Hofburg, Schonbrunn and Belvedere. Vienna is the city of music and architecture. There are so many things to do in Vienna, that you have to decide what is your thing. We went for the imperial vibe, in the city center - Ringstrasse and also the palaces around the city to understand the history and greatness of this empire. We also had a cinematic theme - we went to see some places where the Movie "Before Sunrise" with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy was filmed. Also we were interested all the artistic dimensions of this city: music (Mozart, opera), visual art (Klimt) and architecture. During our time in Vienna we had a great choice of vegetarian and vegan restaurant or options to enjoy.
Start from the hotel
We arrived in Vienna at Vienna International Airport. The transport to the hotel from the airport was easy: first S7 to Wien Mitte and from there with U3 to Neubaugasse. We stayed at Time Out City Hotel.
Maria Teresa was the only female ruler of the Habsburg Empire and it is a very popular figure, and here it is the all her greatness. It is a great place to start a Vienna tour, as you get the taste of what is there to come and understand the rich history of this city.
We both a ticket from the ticket machine. We both the Classic Tour Ticket which includes: Grand Tour of the Palace with audio guide ( 44 rooms), Privy Garden, Maze & Labyrinth, Orangery Garden, Gloriette.
We both the ticket at 10:50 and we were scheduled to enter in the palace at 12:50 (it is written on the ticket). So we had 2+ hours waiting time. Fortunately there are the other places included in the Classic Ticket that can be visited before: Privy Garden, Maze & Labyrinth, Orangery Garden, Gloriette.
